At a bit of a loose end lyricwise, I attended one of Tim Dalling's songwriting classes at Thee Globe, Newcastle in Autumn 2022. One of the exercises involved participants sending each other potential song titles. This beauty was sent to me by Fiona, and the rest of the song followed. I've made some amendments to the words since this was recorded at First Avenue, Heaton on 21 Jan 2023.

Is it worth the walk to Warkworth? Ambling on towards Embleton. Settle for less in Morpeth, try to start again in Newbiggin. Hang your washing out in Pegswood, start a fire in Ashington, then sleep like a baby in Bedlington, what’s the colour of your coats?
Jump off a cliff in Lemington, face your despair in Westerhope, light a candle in Whickham, take a left turn into Ryton. Make a pan of soup in Stocksfield, carve a hexagram in Hexham. Halt and whistle in Haydon Bridge, what’s the colour of your coats?
Take a seat in Seaton Delaval, bury your treasure in Burradon, resole your boots in Seghill, sleep in a tent in Camperdown. straighten your head out in Benton, ask yourself “why?” in Howdon, then make peace with it in Battle Hill, what’s the colour of your coats?
Black as the middens at low tide, white as the waves at Whitley Bay, blue as the house on Blue House Roundabout, that’s the colour of your coats.
