let's start with apologies for my weak-as-water vocals on this and subsequent tracks - in my defence, I'd never sung before, and my voice (as it is) is more suited to wispy meandering over an acoustic. This one's a cautionary tale with supernatural overtones, and demonstrates a retrospectively surprising preoccupation with mortality and suicide, as evidenced by almost all of my Rufus lyrics and later Brenda System ones too. It'd still be 13 years before I started working in mental health. PS the careful listener might detect an homage to Sinatra in the last three lines.
