nearly left this one off, and it's only survived for the sake of completeness. And it's a great riff - both a homage to and parody of cock rock, with some great Scorpionsesque double riffage from Les and me - it led to a magic moment when, smoking by an upstairs window at the Broken Doll before a set, I heard a couple of lads walking towards the pub chanting "No sex please, we're ugly!". But my vocals, grimly poor at the best of times, are cringeworthily execrable here as I attempt to do a "rock voice". And to think I gave a copy of this to me mam and dad. Groan!
Wish I could have ended this compilation with Owen's elegaic "All The Rivers Run", mentioned on the attached setlist and a sort of companion piece to Les's "Magic Bag" (which includes the line "where do all the rivers run, magic bag?"). If we ever recorded it, the tape's long gone.
